Clippers Win 106-81 to Stay Alive
Kawhi Leonard exploded for a playoff career-high 45 points to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 106-81 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals series on Wednesday night.
Leonard was unstoppable from the field, shooting 18-of-25 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. He also added six rebounds and three assists in the win.
The Clippers needed every bit of Leonard's production as they faced elimination in Game 6. The Mavericks had won the previous two games of the series and were looking to close it out on their home court.
But Leonard and the Clippers had other plans. They came out strong in the first quarter and never looked back. Leonard scored 14 points in the first quarter and the Clippers led by 10 points at the end of the period.
The Clippers continued to build their lead in the second quarter. Leonard scored another 11 points in the quarter and the Clippers led by 15 points at the half.
The Mavericks made a run in the third quarter, but Leonard and the Clippers were too much for them. Leonard scored 10 points in the third quarter and the Clippers led by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks never threatened in the fourth quarter. Leonard scored another 10 points in the quarter and the Clippers cruised to a 106-81 victory.
With the win, the Clippers force a Game 7 in Los Angeles on Friday night. The winner of Game 7 will advance to the Western Conference Finals.
